How it works

Frequently asked questions

Is Google's sitemap ping endpoint still working?

No. Google retired google.com/ping?sitemap= in late 2023. For Google, submit your sitemap in Search Console (see our Google guide). SitemapPing pings IndexNow and Bing, which do offer submission APIs.

Does pinging guarantee page-one rankings?

No — and anyone promising that is selling snake oil. Pinging gets your pages crawled and indexed faster, which is the prerequisite. Rankings come from content quality, relevance, and backlinks.

Which search engines does IndexNow notify?

Bing, Yandex, Seznam, and Naver. One submission to api.indexnow.org reaches all of them. Google does not participate in IndexNow.

Do I need to verify my site?

Yes. IndexNow needs a key text file on your domain root; the Bing API needs a free API key from Bing Webmaster Tools; Google needs Search Console verification. SitemapPing walks you through each step.

How fast will my pages get indexed after pinging?

IndexNow notifies engines within minutes, but the actual crawl and indexing still depends on each engine. It's dramatically faster than waiting for the next scheduled crawl, though.

Is SitemapPing free?

Yes. IndexNow itself is free and unlimited for reasonable use; Bing's API allows 10,000 URLs per day per domain on its free tier.
